For our anniversary, we went to San Francisco. As we got married on 2/2/02, this post is obviously way overdue. I guess it got lost in the shuffle of things. But better later than never, right? Or maybe like fine wine, it will just be better with age? I am not sure about that, but anyways here it goes.
We flew out of San Diego on 2/2. San Diego really is a beautiful city, the flight was half empty and becuase of turbulence we flew kind of low, making for a great view the whole way.
When we got there, we got settled in our hotel and then went for a walk. It was warm and beautiful.
We saw lots of interesting shops. My favorite sign.
This store was perfect for Gunnar.
I had been sick the whole week before, so we tried to not over due it. This meant stopping a lot of food. We started with fish and chips. Super yummy.
Next we went for sushi, just one rainbow roll. It was yummy, and the view was AMAZING.
I know it is backlit, but you can see Alcatraz island out the window. As, I said, it was an amazing view.
Next we walked to dinner. Gunnar had looked up the location before we went. When he was showing me the route, he said "Oh look, it is a short cut" Well, turns out the "short cut" was straight up Lombard St. I thought it was the steepest street in the world, but it wasn't. It felt like it as we walked up it though. The view was nice though.
The restaurant was dimly lit and so I didn't get any pictures worth looking at. It was Spanish food and delicious.
The next morning we got up early and went to breakfast. We met up with Nick and C, our nephew and niece that live there in the city.
Gunnar ordered a coffee. When it came, we said, "Wait, no one ordered a soup." Turns out, it wasn't soup. It was coffee. In a bowl. No wonder American's are obese.
After breakfast, we walked around. It was warm and sunny and beautiful and the views were amazing.
After we each went on our way we made a last stop for more food. I had never had crab before, and it was so good! We ate in honor of one of Gunnar's favorite shows, "The deadliest catch" about crab fishermen.
We also had clam chowder in a bread bowl. So delicious!
We headed back to San Diego. As we flew in the sun was setting over our beautiful city. The perfect end (well almost, we still had to drive to my parents, pick up our kids and drive back to Valley Center) to a wonderful, perfect trip.
