You can teach that

I find DNA amazing. It is like a secret code that is just waiting to determine all sorts of things about us. I should been very familiar with this already as since I was 12, everyone has told me I look JUST like my mom. I always have found this to be an awkward comment to respond to, as I didn't have anything to do with that fact. It is my DNA.

Watching Grace grown and develop as a little person has once again reminded me of how much DNA plays a part into the people that we are. So much of Grace is just like Gunnar, things that we never could have (or would have) taught her. Like how she sleeps (sprawled out everywhere, usually with an arm over her face), her competitive spirit (the first time she lost at Candyland, she started bawling, because she "wanted to get to the king first"), her sence of humor (I work so hard in trying to teach her that potty is NOT funny).

In other ways, she is a lot like me. She looks a lot like me as a child (grandted, Gunnar and I didn't look all that diffrent as children), she talks constantly and loves talking on the phone. Lately she has decided she wants to be a princess, and her favorite color is pink. Although my favorite color was never pink (I was always a purple girl), I appreciate her urge to only want to wear one color. I also always wanted to be a princess, but unfortunantly, Prince Felipe never wanted to marry me. She also has decided she only wants to wear skirts or dresses. Perferably pink skirts or dresses.

I pretty much let Grace pick out her clothes and get herself dressed on days when we aren't going anywhere. Here are just a couple pictures from the back porch a couple days ago. Notice her outfit, it is one of her very favorites.

Oh yeah, but going barefoot outside, that is 100% Gunnar. :)
