Crazy cat lady?

Grace loves our cats. The cats are so nice to her, putting up with all her love. Between her outfit and her messy hair, she reminded me of the proverbial "crazy cat lady".

You can teach that

I find DNA amazing. It is like a secret code that is just waiting to determine all sorts of things about us. I should been very familiar with this already as since I was 12, everyone has told me I look JUST like my mom. I always have found this to be an awkward comment to respond to, as I didn't have anything to do with that fact. It is my DNA.

Watching Grace grown and develop as a little person has once again reminded me of how much DNA plays a part into the people that we are. So much of Grace is just like Gunnar, things that we never could have (or would have) taught her. Like how she sleeps (sprawled out everywhere, usually with an arm over her face), her competitive spirit (the first time she lost at Candyland, she started bawling, because she "wanted to get to the king first"), her sence of humor (I work so hard in trying to teach her that potty is NOT funny).

In other ways, she is a lot like me. She looks a lot like me as a child (grandted, Gunnar and I didn't look all that diffrent as children), she talks constantly and loves talking on the phone. Lately she has decided she wants to be a princess, and her favorite color is pink. Although my favorite color was never pink (I was always a purple girl), I appreciate her urge to only want to wear one color. I also always wanted to be a princess, but unfortunantly, Prince Felipe never wanted to marry me. She also has decided she only wants to wear skirts or dresses. Perferably pink skirts or dresses.

I pretty much let Grace pick out her clothes and get herself dressed on days when we aren't going anywhere. Here are just a couple pictures from the back porch a couple days ago. Notice her outfit, it is one of her very favorites.

Oh yeah, but going barefoot outside, that is 100% Gunnar. :)

Grace the three year old

Grace cracks me up every single day. She is so funny and cute. She talks all day long (just like her mommy) but other than that, I think she is just like her daddy. I have started keeping a journal so I can jot down the funny little things she says. Here are a couple of my favorites from the last couple months.

Grace: "God only knows two things."
Me: "What is that?"
Grace: "He knows everything about the Bible, and everything about everything."

I was laying in bed one day when my mom came up for a visit. Grace runs into my room and says "Mommy can I have some ice cream"
Me: "Hum, we'll have to think about that."
Grace: "Let's think yes!"

Looking at a picture of Grace and Grandpa Pa:
Grace: "This picture is as cute as can be"

Grace on the phone to Grandma Ta:
"I am just walking around the house looking for friends."

Grace: "I am standing on a Bible. When I stand on this Bible, I am as big as my dad."

Grace was supposed to be helping me with some stuff around the house. She was supposed to change her clothes first.
Me: "When you are done, come in here and say 'Grace Hanson, reporting for duty'"
Grace: "But I don't want to say 'Grace Hanson is a patootie"

Grace: "I see a tree"
Grandma Ta: "Who made that tree?"
Grace: "The one who washes away your sins"

You may not laugh as much as I do. As I said, I don't get out much. I just think the little things that come out of her mouth are so funny. :)

16 Weeks

I am now 16 weeks. That means the baby is approximately the size of an avocado. It also means that I in the second trimester, which would be why I am feeling so much better.Grace told me a few days ago that my belly was getting "so big". It still has a long way to go, and although I am still squeezing into some of my regular clothes, the end is in sight for how much longer I am going to be able to pull them off. I decided to take some belly pictures so that I can have some to compare to as my belly (and the baby) grow. Grace loves the camera, so as you can see, I had trouble keeping her out from the picture. My very favorite Grace interrupted picture was this one though. I really don't know why she thought that would be a good idea.
I finally gave in and just took pictures of the two of us.

I'm back!

Well, I think I am going to try to get back into blogging. Don't worry, you really haven't missed much the last couple months. I can sum it up pretty easily. Starting new years eve, until about a week or two ago, I was out for the count with morning sickness. We pretty much stayed close to home except for the bare necessities, like trips to the midwife and such.

Our 7th anniversary (02.02.09) we spent the night down town, and Grace spent her first night away from us. She spent the night with my parents. For her first time away, she did great. And my great, I mean that the only time she got upset was when we came to pick her up. She was even too busy to talk on the phone the couple times we called. Ever since then she has been asking if mom and dad were going to have another anniversary so she can stay at Grandma and Grandpa's again.

We had a small family get together on Grace's 3rd birthday. We got together at my parents house, so that we were the only ones who had to do the drive. Grace loved her birthday presents from everyone, and had a fabulous time being the center of attention.

The last couple weeks we have been taking our turns with the cold bug that has been going around. So although the morning sickness is over, I still have been sticking close to home. Grace actually ended up spending two more nights at Grandma and Grandpa Hilton's house, as Gunnar and I were both down for the count. She has been healthy so far, so hopefully she stays that way.

Other than that, Lance Armstrong cycled down the street in front of our church. Gunnar was in the local Road Runner newspaper. Grace started home school preschool and loves it. Grace has become a huge "Candy Land" fan and we play almost daily.

I will post again soon with pictures and an update about the pregnancy. Right now though, I think I am going to take a nap. :)
