Flashback Friday-The perfect Christmas sweater

For years now Gunnar and I have been searching for the perfect Christmas sweater for Gunnar. You wouldn't think it would be that hard, but is has been YEARS and we have yet to find what he has been looking for. For may years, I didn't understand why Gunnar wanted a Christmas sweater so bad. All I knew is that he really wanted one. A couple of the men at our church, that have held onto their sweaters have caused immense jealousy in Gunnar. Especially the one with the moose on it. Classic. Oh so classic. I think they actually bought theirs in the 80's and have just held onto them all these years.

Just this last Spring, my wonderful mother-in-law gave us a couple old photo albums and I finally understood a little more about the root of Gunnar's sweater love.

If you check out the following pictures, you will notice Gunnar's love for sweaters is clearly evident and rooted in his childhood. He seemed to particularly love that white and gray number. Like the famed hawaiian shirt love (remember 2002-2005?), this sweater seemed to be a very favorite.
I must also give an honorable mention to a few other sweaters in Gunnar's past.

Although either the sun is in his eyes, or he needs to use the little boys room, this red and blue number is quite the fashion statement. Perfect for standing by lake Tahoe with siblings, or a Christmas eve service at church this bold piece is a must for any 10 year old boy in the 80's.
Last but not least, we have this piece. The pattern is almost snowflakey but not so much as you couldn't pull it off in a school picture. It could pass as a fall/thanksgiving sweater, so it could be labeled as a great multi-purpose sweater. As you can see, young Gunnar pulled off the look perfectly.
With that, we dedicate this post to the sweaters of Gunnar's past, with the hope of many great sweaters in the years to come.

P.S. If you happen to have been alive in the 80's and still have a sweater like this in a men's size large, think of us. :)
