Yesterday morning when we woke up and looked out the window, "our" mountains were covered with snow. The view from our front window was beautiful! After church we came home, packed up and took Grace up to see the snow. Gunnar and I have loved going up to the snow in years gone by, but taking Grace for the first time was fun. It was only about a 30 min drive from our house (which is what we drive to get to Walmart).
At first she wasn't really sure about walking on the snow. My cousin Amy had given her some cute snow boots that came in handy and were incredibly cute!
After a couple minutes she LOVED it. Gunnar and I would take handfuls of snow and she would swat them out of our hands and laugh.

Palomar Mountain was the site of one of the fires in our area. It was weird to see the burnt branches covered in snow. It was beautiful and rather surreal. It reminded me of how beautiful forgiveness and new beginnings are. Our sin leaves us blackened and a mess. Like the beautiful clean white snow, God's grace covers us and when he looks at us, he sees us clean and forgiven. When I think about all I have been forgiven of, I am challenged to think I need to be more forgiving of those around me! Thanks be to God for his grace!
The pictures don't do justice to the beauty of the burnt trees and snow.
The view on the drive back down was beautiful. You could see all the way to the ocean where the sun was beginning to set. I do love California!Needless to say we all enjoyed our day but were happy to get back into the warm car and head home!Lastly, I leave you with the classic Christmas card picture!
