This morning as I was talking to my mom on the phone it occurred to me...today is March 5th! For the first three years of our marriage we lived in anticipation of that date. Anxiously awaiting the change it would bring to our lives.
Yes, March 5th was the day Gunnar separated from the Navy. Looking back it wasn't as traumatic as I had expected it would be, although I think it was harder for Gunnar than for me obviously.
Today is particularly significant for me in the fact that we have been married for 6 years, 1 month and 3 days. And he has been out of the Navy for exactly 3 years. So in 1 month and 4 days from now, I will officially have been a pastors wife longer than I was a Navy wife. I really enjoy being a pastors wife better than a SEAL's wife, although people were way more impressed by the SEAL thing. I found that to be rather annoying, especially since whenever I would go to the dentist that is ALL he wanted to talk about. I know you are thinking that probably didn't happen all that often, but if it wasn't the dentist, it was someone else completely ignoring me to fawn all over Gunnar. But enough about that. I am so thankful for my husband who is so fawn-all-over worthy.
Some things I love about being a Pastor's wife:
1. I get to see people's lives transformed. Nothing is more exciting than seeing God completely transform peoples lives!!
2.I get to go to work with Gunnar. This means we get to spend more time together, which I enjoy.
3. I get the inside scoop on all the fun church stuff...like I get to hear the message on Saturday night instead of waiting until Sunday.
4. We can always discuss theology. I really enjoy talking about the Bible, theology, and things of that nature. I have learned SOOO much more about the Bible since Gunnar has been in school and teaching the Bible. I love wrestling through issues and learn so much from him.
5. Going to church events is part of his job. I love going to church events, so this really works out in my favor. I love being there every time the church doors are open!
Lastly I leave you with some pictures of Navy SEAL Gunnar and Pastor Gunnar in honor of this life changing day!

sorry Anna but, even worse than the dentist you are only a person to my boys because you are "Gunnar's wife". You have no other name! They are just as impressed with the preacher job as the SEAL so, we are good there. Love you tons. Natalie
