My first major knitted project

I was pretty pleased with the finished project, although of course the first things I notice are the imperfections. It helps that I have an adorable model though, everything looks better on her.

Christmas on the Prado #9

I think I mentioned last year how much I love Christmas on the Prado. This was our 9th time. Crazy! I absolutely love it.

In past years (as you can see in the link above) we have worn green elf hats. They are getting very thread bare, so this year I decided to step it up and make new hats. It is a lot of pressure to make a hat for Maria as she is so stylish and I wanted to make something she would like. Plus it needed to be Christmassey and not look too homemade. I was so excited with how they turned out. We tooks lots of pictures, mostly becuase I was so excited about them. Plus, Maria and I have never avoided taking pictures, and we were waiting for Gunnar to finish talking to my dad about shade structures so we could go.

Our first stop was Starbucks. Grace has a matching hat too, but Starbucks was really the only place we got her to wear it. It was really warm (notice I never needed a sweater), so I don't blame her. I was determined to wear the hat since I had just spent two days crocheting like a mad woman.
We didn't take a stroller, which was a good call since there were SOOO many people. It is much better when it rains.
Grace was trying to ride piggy back. It was pretty tough thought becuase she is so tiny she barely fits. Maybe next year.
We sat on the curb to eat our international food. Gunnar and Grace got schawarmas and Maria and I got Paella.
We went by the Old Globe theater display in honor of Gunnar's mom who is in the Globe Gilders. We saw the grinch and all the Hoo-Ville decorations.

We managed to get Grace to wear her hat for just a few more pictures.
My favorite thing is a room full of Christmas tree displays put on my the San Diego floral socity. The trees are so beautiful and unique. There was one with dried grapefruit slices that was super cool. Grace liked them too.
There are Gunnar and Grace taking a breather. Grace kind of had that shell shocked look a lot. It was either all the people/lights/noise or maybe the fact that she was too excited to take a nap earlier.
Trying to get out of the parking lot there was a TON of traffic. I took pictures of the girls in the back seat. They crack me up.

Cheers! And Let the Christmas season begin!! :)

Latest Quilt

I just finished another quilt. This was actually the first time I have made money making a quilt. A friend of a friends paid me to make a quilt from her sons baby clothes. It was a lot of work, but I was pretty pleased with how it came out, plus the extra cash was really nice. So if you know of anyone who has a lot of baby clothes and is willing to pay for a timeless heirloom, let me know. Here are a couple pictures of the finished product.

Highlights

Life seems to have settled into a nice pace after Easter. Grace keeps me smiling, she always seems to have something funny to say. I read online yesterday that for her age she should be speaking in 2 word sentences (like "more food" ect.) I was very excited because she speaks in like 10 word sentences (like yesterday she said "I want my friend Grandma to give me more water" or "I want to go walk around block with Grandpa. He hold Guapo. I hold Dulce."), thus making her very advanced. She also can tell stories about things that happened in the past (Guapo pooped on grass. Grandpa pick it up and throw it in garrrr-bage") and can use adjectives (like "my red shirt dirty" or "mommy get my comfy panties from the drier"). But in keeping me humble, she STILL can't jump AND she has been getting jumping lessons/practice for quite some time from a friend at church. Oh well, I guess she can't have it all. :)

I mentioned taking the dogs for a walk with Grandpa. She did this a couple weeks ago when we spent the morning there. She LOVED it and has been talking about it constantly since. She was so excited to head down on Wednesday and take them for a walk around the block (a very small block) by my parents house. Thankfully, my parents dog Dulce is as mellow as can be, so she is really easy for Grace to walk. It was the highlight of her day (possibly her week). They looked super cute together!

Sunday she got to wear one of the new dresses she got for her birthday. She looked like she belonged on the Alps churning butter, but very cute nonetheless.
Monday we went to the zoo with some of our dear friends. We didn't see anything too spectacular and after walking for a couple hours decided to go get lunch somewhere. That was actually a major ordeal, seeing as our friends aren't very opinionated, and Gunnar has a hard time figuring things like that out when he is hungry.

Anyways, other than that, the week has been rather slow. I finished a new quilt for Grace's crib and Grace hung out in her pajamas. We hang out with the chickens in the "party room"(aka the garage).

God is so good! It is exciting to watch him work. I am so thankful that I am able to be home with Grace and that I get to watching her change and grow. Gunnar is loving country living (See previous post about our 12 chickens). For as much as I dreaded moving here, it is really turning into a healthy season for our family.
