Ladies Christmas Tea

Last week we had a ladies Christmas Tea at church. This is the first time I have done something quite like this and I really enjoyed it. I hosted a table, which was a lot harder than I expected. I had to decorated the table, which with a little help from my mom and Maria was pretty easy. I was also supposed to help fill my table with people. The Hilton girls came through for me, but unfortunately, the other people who were going to sit with got sick, so that left just us. All was not lost as the special guest musician girls ended up sitting with us. But let me tell you, when an elderly lady had to put up TV trays becuase she had so many people who wanted to sit at her table, it really makes you want to step up your game.

So if you don't have anything going on next December, let me know, I have some tea tickets I need to get rid of.

Anyways, that was kind of a side point. We had a great time at the tea. We all got ready together at my house, which was fun. Things like that are better in a group.
Even Elena was looking pretty spiffy.
Can you tell who was going to stay home with Grandpa? :)

As I mentioned, each table had a different hostess, and each hostess was in charge of decorating her table. It was fun to see how pretty yet different each table was.
There is my table. That is the Hanson family China. I think it originally belonged to Grandma Fern Hanson herself. I am beyond excited to be it's legal guardian and pretty much sign up for any formal hosting just so I can use it.
Vicky's table. She went with the easy clean up and went with paper products. Smart lady. Nothing says happy holiday like not having to do a pile of dishes.

This was the table that was overflowing with ladies. Pat did a great job. Now that I think about it, maybe the angle napkin holders is what put her over the top with guest. I know they made me want to sit there.
Loyd Beth's husband brought this china back from Japan. It is SO beautiful.

I really liked this table. So simple, yet elegant. This was the table we stole the musician girls from. We told them we had better chocolates. Yes, it was a shameful move, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

There were two other tables, but I was unable to think of anything interesting to say about them and figured you were probably tired of table pictures anyways.

The church was decorated really pretty with lots of white lights and candles. The lack of lighting pretty much meant the pictures were not so great, but you get the idea.

We sang a couple songs and were welcomed and all that. Then the guy servers came out with the platters of food, marching and singing. Gunnar was supposed to join them, but lucky for him, he got out of it, becuase they needed him to do some speaking. Let's just say, he was not too bummed. They served little sandwiches, little desserts, tea and coffee. What else does a girl need?
As I mentioned, Gunnar had a speaking part, so he wore his suit. He was just commenting on how when he bought the suit he would never have thought he was going to have so many opportunities to use is. Last year he scored some sweat moose Christmas socks which he loves (Christmas gift from Maria), so he was very excited to sport those as well.

There he is, the preacher himself. Reading scripture, what else?

It was fun having Elena at our table. She is such a good baby. She pretty much just sat there and hung out during the whole thing. It pretty much is amazing to me, as a certain baby I have a lot of first hand experience with, would never have been able to sit through a tea like that. Especially at that age!

We took some pictures by the tree after the lights were back on.
The girls.
Elena is such a trend setter.
The sisters.
I so wish Grace would have been there dressed up as well for the picture taking. Although I wouldn't have been able to resist the urge to send out Christmas cards. So maybe it is for the best.
What was the beautiful Grace up to, you wonder? This is what it looked like when we got home. It looks like a good time was had by all.
