OKay, so I know I just posted about us getting a puppy. Well, there is a long story on that point. Bottom line, lesson learned, don't buy a dog you have never met. And a dog needs to fit the needs of your family.
We did the responsible thing and found a new, loving home for Daisy. A couple that just moved to San Diego and the husband is in the Navy. The wife came to pick her up and was letting Daisy kiss all over her face. They were both in love, and we felt confident that she would be well taken care of.
So the quest continued. One of the problems is that Diasy was a rebound relationship dog. We were sad about the death of Tess, that I loved. Linus, my father-in-laws dog, has been lonely, so we have been looking for a friend dog for him.
One popular question regarding this move is how did Grace react? She didn't notice the first day (and she played outside). The second day she finally noticed, and Gunnar told her that Daisy went to a new home and we would look for a new dog. She said "okay, can we look for a new dog today?" and went back to playing. She didn't bring it up or cry or talk about it since.
Well, as I mentioned previously, I was sick last week, and hadn't been able to get caught up on my sleep, so Gunnar, being the great guy that he is, took Grace dog shopping. They went to the pound and found a dog that was a possibility, BUT the dog didn't get along with the chickens or the cats. So that is a no go. So they kept searching.
Finally, Thursday or Friday (I spent most of the time sleeping so I don't really remember), they found a dog. She is 10 weeks old. Born the day after my Grandma died (so 6 days older than Elizabeth). She is a black lab, and so far much mellower than Daisy. She is sweet, and Gunnar is beaming like a proud papa. Well, maybe not quite that proud, but you get the idea. :)
Grace wanted to name her Lady Bug, so Lady Bug it is. So here you go: Little Miss Lady Bug:
