Big Bear

Last week we took a family day trip to Big Bear Lake. My parents were staying up there for a few days on a much needed mini-vacation, so we spent the day with them.

I had actually never been to Big Bear. Shocking, I know. I always felt a little weird living in San Diego, because it seems like everyone and their mother had been there (I know my mother had). So I am glad we went, even if it was a lot of driving for one day, as now I can die happy.

It was absolutely beautiful and relaxing. We went for a little walk, and then had dinner with them at the cabin before heading home. Grace kept wanting to know where the bear was. We think she thought the cabin was named Big Bear, as when we were there, she kept saying "I want to walk around Big Bear" and would proceed to go up and down the stairs. She loves her Grandma Ta and Grandpa Pa and so was overjoyed to spend the day with them. Plus she even got to see ducks, who crowded around her, even if she didn't have bread. :)

It was so beautiful!
I love this family picture. Gunnar and Grace skipping rocks while Elizabeth and I stand their awkwardly. :)

Checking out the ducks with Grandpa Pa.

Family fun full of fabulous fall foliage.
And mom and dad.
Here is Ellie on her first hike. She and I have basically the same approach to hiking.
I know I am biased and all, but I really think Grace is one of the most beautiful children ever. I mean, come on, look at that smile!?
I love this picture, mostly becuase of my dad's halo. What a saint.
At the cabin there was a pool table. Grace enjoyed trying to "play" pool, knocking in the balls by rolling other balls at them. I tried it too, and I don't know if I can ever go back to regular pool. I don't think I have ever gotten so many balls in the pockets. :)
